Webcasting, Wedcasting and Live Streaming
Webcasting is a media presentation distributed over the Internet using streaming media technology to distribute a single content source to many simultaneous listeners/viewers. A webcast may either be distributed live or on demand. Essentially, webcasting is “broadcasting” over the Internet. A wedcast is a webcast of a wedding. It allows family and friends of the couple to watch the wedding in real time on the Internet, perfect for relatives overseas.
What Is Webcasting and Web Streaming?
Streaming media is multimedia that is constantly received by and presented to an end-user while being delivered by a provider. Live streaming is the delivery of Internet content in real-time, as events happen, much as live television broadcasts its contents over the airwaves via a television signal. Live internet streaming requires a form of source media (e.g. a video camera, an audio interface, screen capture software), an encoder to digitise the content, a media publisher, and a content delivery network to distribute and deliver the content. Live streaming does not need to be recorded at the origination point, although it frequently is. Coastal AV uses an Australian CDN (Content Delivery Network), regarded as one of the best in the world for webcasting and the web interface can be customised with the client’s branding.
Applications for Webcasting and Streaming
Share Live Events via Webcasting
Sharing live events with your audience can make them feel more connected to your client’s company or industry. The key here is not just showing the event, but also letting users be a part of it. Create stories for your viewers. If you just show what’s happening in one location, viewers are likely to get bored quickly and disconnect. Instead, walk around to show them the event.
Host Interviews
Brands and companies are centred on people – however, companies sometimes forget this and become too promotional. Do short live interviews with employees or clients to increase engagement. These interviews not only show the human side of your company, but also offer personal ideas and opinions.
Show the Creation of a Product
Your audience typically can’t see how your products or services are created. With live streaming video, you can show them what it takes to go from concept to product completion. This is a great way to give your clients a glimpse of what is involved in building your brand.
Training and Webcasting
Most people are avid learners if the content is interesting to them. Use this to your advantage by becoming your audience’s go-to reference for a particular topic. Coastal AV can assist with creating content that can be inserted into a presentation from numerous sources – from PowerPoint to video.
Host Q&A Sessions
Organise sessions where you let the audience ask you about their concerns or areas of interest. This is a great way to increase engagement because you’re showing people that you care about their thoughts and opinions.
